Within two weeks, people across various platforms will be able to play Monster Hunter Wilds. Ahead of that, the producer behind the game ‘Ryozo Tsujimoto’ also acknowledged the increasing number of PC players and the decision to bring crossplay and make the game more suitable for the platform.

“Yeah, there are more players than ever playing on PC, including in Japan. So we definitely see room for the series to capture new players who haven't tried it before if that's their chosen platform,” Tsujimoto said speaking to GamesRadar.

The games also feature crossplay which gives people more freedom to choose what platform they play on without hindering the ability to play with friends. After the initial demo where people complained about the performance issues, Capcom also worked on optimization and lowered the minimum and recommended specs for the game.

Increase in PC players driving Capcom’s decision

The open beta for Monster Hunter Wilds was highly successful and brought over half a million users. While the beta was free the numbers reveal more people are interested in the game leaving the company to further improve the quality-of-life on the PC port for the game including better mouse and keyboard support.

Recently, Take-Two's CEO also talked about something similar when asked about the PC release of GTA 6. While the game may not be released on console and PC simultaneously, there are speculations that a PC port for the game will follow soon behind.

Why is PC gaming so popular?

Consoles are meant to provide a stable gaming experience, which they do in most cases. However, PC can do much more. Modding, emulation, and day-to-day work can all be done in a single place and most of the console exclusives are now landing on PC eventually. Another big advantage PC has over consoles is free online gaming.
