Mojang teams up with Disney to release Moana 2 DLC in Minecraft

Weeks ahead of Moana 2 release, Minecraft has now added the Moana 2 DLC inside the game. The movie-inspired DLC is priced at 1510 minecoins or $9 and features some beloved characters from the series along with character customization.

“The Moana 2 DLC will take you on a journey across iconic locations on Motunui and beyond to relive moments from both Disney’s Moana and Moana 2. Meet new and familiar characters like Moana’s little sister Simea, the beady-eyed Tamatoa, and, not to mention, our favorite rooster Hei Hei!” the official description wrote.

Chief Tui plans to expand the village to more islands and will need help from players. The DLC adds a quest where Moana and Maui will first teach players how to ride the ocean waves and send them off on a journey toward Wayfinders’ Cavern.

New Minecraft quests and boss fights

The quest features a fight against sneaky little pirates called Kakamora and players will also have to help Maui recover his hook from Lalotai realm and moments from the first film to further create hype for the upcoming movie. As usual, there will also be epic boss fights. There’s also a free flower crown cosmetic to celebrate the launch.

This isn’t the first time Disney and Mojang have collaborated. Previous, players saw Star Wars, Minions, The Lion King, Kung Fu Panda collab in the game. Apart from that, there are also various other collaborations like Godzilla, allowing players to turn into the beloved Kaiju.

Moana 2 is set to launch on November 27 and is set three years after the events of the first film. It is one of the two major animated Disney films set to release by the end of 2024, the other one being Mufasa: The Lion King, set to release on December 20.
