Minecraft is getting real world theme parks

Mojang Studios is planning to bring Minecraft into real life with the help of Merlin Entertainments via theme parks across the US and UK. Check out more details below.

Following Nintendo’s footsteps, Mojang has teamed up with Merlin Entertainments to create Minecraft theme parks across various locations in the United Kingdom and the United States. Themed locations and rides are some of the most common things people expect, but details are yet to be revealed on what’s to come.

However, fans are quite excited about the park after Merlin revealed they will invest around $110 million just for two parks. These parks will be built in existing Merlin locations in 2026 and 2027 with more to come in future. It is also reported that more locations will be revealed globally later on.

“Merlin is looking to bring Minecraft adventures to life. This will include the development of first-of-its-kind concepts for Minecraft-themed guest accommodation, retail, and food and beverage, alongside exciting experiences including a Minecraft-themed ride at Merlin locations in these two countries,” the company said.

Mojang Studios and Merlin Entertainment team up

Merlin previously worked on LEGOLAND parks, Peppa Pig parks and others across various countries. Teaming up with Mojang, the studio behind Minecraft, the company is promising fans an authentic experience across the board.

Minecraft is the best-selling game of all time, so it is clear that the game boasts a large number of fans. Recently, people even got to have a first look at the live-action Minecraft movie. Now with the theme park, the company is planning to further expand into a new area.

These new real-life Minecraft experiences will not only grow our community but also offer fans many more opportunities to immerse themselves in the world of Minecraft in ways they've never imagined,” said VP of Franchise Development for Gaming at Microsoft, Kayleen Walters.
