Valorant vs Marvel Rivals
Marvel Rivals is the latest PvP free to play entry in the market featuring Heroes from the Marvel universe. The game saw a massive launch across all platforms and surprisingly, the servers held in inflow of so many players really well. However, the game also adds to the dilemma of what game to choose from the vast competitive market.
Valorant, another free to play PvP title released back in 2020 is another big name in the industry boasting millions of players. Both games posses similarities like team play and unique characters, but are also quite distinct in their own way at the same time.
With the release of Marvel Rivals, many might be thinking of jumping into the new game to see if it is as good as claimed by gamers over the last few months. To understand how both game differ from each other, we will discuss what make these games unique in their own way.

Gameplay elements

The core gameplay elements for both games can be similar, at times, as they are PvP games where both teams have to defeat their opponents. However, this expands well beyond shooting your opponents. For starters, Marvel Rivals is a hero arena shooter while Valorant is a tactical shooter.
Arena shooter games usually go on for much longer duration and have different gameplay elements like respawn after a short duration and completing different objectives to win. On the other hand, tactical shooter usually have a single game mode and only give one chance to players each round. Respawns are only available after the round concludes.
Characters and Abilities

Both games have a wide roster of characters with different abilities. However, the use of these abilities during a game differs heavily. Furthermore, the roster for Marvel Rivals is much bigger as the characters are adapted from comics, while Valorant have unique characters and abilities.
The use of these abilities also differ in each game. While players in Marvel Rivals can use their abilities after a short duration, Valorant requires much more precise use of character abilities, especially the ultimate, which players only get to use 2 or three times during an entire match.
Character Roles

The concept of character roles exists in both Valorant and Marvel Rivals, but once again, they differ from each other. Marvel Rivals have three roles called Duelist, Vanguard and Strategist. Duelist are the main damage dealer, while Vanguard are the tanks who take hots for other team members. Supporting them are Strategist that provide healing. Each of the character is locked in a singular role.
Valorant also have different roles like Duelist, Controllers, Initiators and Sentinels, however, despite having a role players aren’t necessarily locked into a singular role. This is due to gameplay mainly revolving around weapons and while the roles do help a lot, they ultimately prime opponents for a weapon finish.
Gun play

Valorant has different types of weapons that specialize in achieving different tasks, however, all the characters in Valorant have access to the same weapons. Marvel Rivals also have weapons, but they are limited to a specific hero. Many of the Heroes even use bare hands to fight, as weapons are in general a part of the character kit.
This makes Valorant more reliant on having the ability to use different weapons, as abilities are generally used to gain tactical advantage, unlike Marvel Rivals where abilities are also the main source of Damage to opponents or helping team members.

Marvel Rivals being a freshly baked cake out of the oven do not have any esports scene just year. There is a tournament section in the game, so the devs might be planning to go big in coming months. With how much love the game received on launch, it is very possible to see a competitive esports scene for the game real soon.
