Featuring a massive roster of 30+ heroes from Marvel, one of the biggest praise gamers had is them being available on release. The roster contains some of the well known characters from Marvel, including Spider-Man, Iron Man, Hulk, Black Widow, and other characters from X-Men along with several less known names like Jeff The Land Shark, Iron Fist, Cloak & Dagger, and more.

Another big addition is the perpetual battle pass, which is becoming common across live service games. Marvel Rivals feature a permanent battle pass which players can progress at their own pace even after Season 0 concludes. This creates less FOMO among players that usually takes the fun out of every game.

Will Marvel Rivals bring doom for Overwatch 2?

As most would have guessed, the game has been compared to Overwatch across every aspect, which is fair considering it is very similar across all those things. These include different game modes, characters abilities and more.

Overwatch 2 on the other hand has faced a lot of criticism since launch. The supposed PvE content was entirely scraped, the shift from paid game to free to play, changing the 6v6 into 5v5, all of these things were received with a mixed reception.

There are a lot of other things that players complained about Overwatch, however, the game still pulls in 40k-50k players regularly on Steam. Marvel Rivals launched just a day ago, so the impact is yet to be measured, however, instead of being an Overwatch killer, the games acting as rivals for each other and improving their experience would be a much better route.
