The Krafton India Gaming Incubator was launched in order to help Indian game developers and start-ups realise their dreams of making video games. While it will provide more job opportunities, the initiative will also help in uplifting the game development side of the Indian gaming ecosystem and give a chance to make a name for themselves globally.

In a recent interview with India Today Gaming, the head of the Krafton India Gaming Incubator programme, Anuj Sahani, explained in-depth about how the initiative will make India one of the producers of games and not only be limited as consumers.

When asked about the possibility of India as one of the global leaders in this gaming ecosystem, Sahani said, “I believe that in the next five to ten years, India can definitely become a global competitor in game development. India has great talent, and we already see many gaming companies emerging.”

“Through initiatives like the Krafton India Gaming Incubator, developers now have the support and mentorship they need. As a result, we will see India producing world-class games that can compete with the best in the global market,” Sahani further added.

New wave to add more gaming startups under Krafton India Gaming Incubator

Most recently, Krafton started to accept a new wave of applicants for the Gaming Incubator, adding more start-ups to fun under the programme. The main goal is to invest $140 million across several small start-ups, allowing them to hire passionate people and develop games completely in India.

As of now, India is yet to put an AAA title in the global market that can compete with modern game releases. Most recently, China made headlines with Black Myth Wukong. Everyone has access to the same tech, yet India has yet to create a banger. While a high-budget game with graphics that many gamers won’t be able to run isn’t necessary, a great AA single player will put the studio on radar.
