Cheating or hacking was one of the main issues during this year’s major BGMI esports tournament. The BGIS and BMPS were reportedly plagued with hackers and players who were previously banned for breaking the tournament rules. Moving forward, Krafton India has now promised that they will ensure a fair environment at the upcoming BGIS 2025.

Speaking to Iindia Today Gaming in an exclusive interview, Associate Director of Krafton India Esports, Karan Pathak, talked about Krafton’s effort on taking down cheaters in the game. Talking about the cheating situation, Pathak said that the team has been working to take down as many cheaters/hackers as possible.

An official post on Instagram also revealed the work the development team for BGMI has been doing. Furthermore, he asked others not to take the hacking route, as it disrupts the gaming integrity while making gaming frustrating, which will ultimately make the gaming sector suffer.

Going after BGMI hackers with full force?

“We haven't previously announced individual names or team names, protecting the players, but this time around, if we do find a hacker, we would make an official post around it tagging the player and tagging the team and exposing it to the people as to who has done it,” Pathak further told.

This time, it seems Krafton is serious, following a huge backlash from the community previously. Although many would argue that taking legal action against the cheater might just be a much better option. Epic Games recently did the same, going after a person who cheated during the FNCS qualifiers and ties to evade a ban.

Initial reports of BGIS 2024 having cheaters in qualifiers were already rising, but the last straw broke when previously banned players were found playing under different names at BMPS 2024 while also cheating. One team was even banned live during the BMPS 2024 match.

The upcoming BGIS 2025 will be a big test for Krafton India in proving fans that these are not simply blank statements and the developers are working properly to ensure everyone no one gets an unfair advantage while competing against others. Registration for BGIS starts January 3rd.
