A massive rumor has now surfaced claiming Rockstar Games might allow people or creators to make their custom game experiences inside GTA 6. The studio reportedly met with popular Roblox and Fortnite creators in a quest to make it happen, bringing a completely new and surprising development to the game ahead of its release.

The report comes from Digiday, which talked to insiders aware of this development. “These experiences would allow creators to modify the game’s environment and assets to bring their own intellectual property and potentially their brand sponsors into GTA’s virtual sandbox,” they wrote.

The ability to create in-game experiences isn’t something new. Fortnite and Roblox serve as great examples where players can create something entirely different. However, the scale people expect GTA 6 to be, having a sandbox to create anything, will be a whole new freedom and will likely add hundreds, if not thousands, of hours to gameplay.

A massive change and a big surprise from GTA 6 developers

If true, this serves as a big change from what Rockstar and Take-Two normally follow with their IP. In general, the company does not allow things from other IPs inside their game, including mixing things with their own older games. This was best seen with the recent decision to take down the GTA 5 Liberty City preservation mod.

The mod put the entire Liberty City inside GTA 5 along with a working, logical NPC crowd, day-to-day scenarios, and other things. The mod received a lot of praise but was taken down by the creator following a request by T2 and Rockstar so this report does come as a surprise.

GTA 6’s virtual world may cost money

In a sense, the custom experience is much like the current modified GTA role-playing servers on FiveM. Take-Two acquired the service back in 2023 and creators charge a monthly subscription fee. Something similar can happen in GTA 6 with direct integration, although these are simply rumours for now with no official confirmation.
