GTA 5's mod might have come to Palworld's aid in fighting the Nintendo lawsuits which have three patents. Palworld has been accused of catching mechanisms. However, according to a Japanese patent Attorney named Ryo Arashida a game mod that preceded Palworld by about eight years has devised similar technology. It might have meant Nintendo lawsuits to be invalid.

When Palworld entered the gaming scene, a lot of fans seemed to love it. The game was dubbed 'Pokemon with guns'. The similarities in mechanisms and designs were evident in Pokemon and Palworld. However, neither Pokemon nor the patents complained about it in the past. However, three patents have been after Palworld over the last few weeks.

The game revolves around catching the Pals with the help of the Pal spheres. It is being claimed that the process involves Nintendo's "killer" Patent No. 7545191. However according to Ryo, the use of the technology even before the claim from the patents might have ensured the lawsuit to be invalid.

Patents 7493117 and 7528390 still intact

The name of GTA 5 has not been mentioned anywhere. However, as the Attorney pointed it out to be eight years old, it has been assumed that the Pokemon GO-theme-based GTA 5, which came out in 2016, might have helped Palworld's case. The 7545191 patent Nintendo is tied to the parent patent which came out in 2021.

Palworld might not be out of trouble completely. A couple of patents, 7493117 and 7528390, are still intact. While the former is aimed at tying the game, the latter is about riding the characters. As of now, it is not sure if GTA 5 could help Palworld in the remaining patents.

A total of 10 million yen has been demanded by the patents from Palworld along with the late payments damages from Pocketpair. Nintendo seems to be going all out against Palworld, as they want an injunction to ensure the latter never gets sold in Japan again. It might be a huge blow to the future of Palworld.
