BGMI is widely regarded as the most popular esports title across India. Developed by Krafton, it comes from the popular Battle Royale game PUBG on PC. Now, the same company is joining hands with Pocketpair, developers of Palworld which is one of the biggest game releases for this year and one of the few games to compete with PUBG.

Released earlier this year, Palworld became an instant hit due to its monster-catching theme like Pokémon paired with other fun things. As of now, Palworld sits on the top three all-time peak player count and is one of three games to cross the 2 million concurrent player mark.

The mobile port is in early development, which is expected considering the original game is also in early access. However, once the game goes into beta, it will likely reach similar popularity as the PC release and will be a good competitor to Pokémon games.

Nintendo lawsuit against Palworld and controversy

With all the popularity Palworld was getting, people were sure that Nintendo would likely take action against the game. After all, the Pals and a few mechanics did resemble Pokémon. Initially, everything was quiet, however, last month, Nintendo filed a lawsuit against Pocket Pair for alleged patent infringement.

The details of the lawsuit and which patent is in question were not revealed. After the initial news, even Pocketpair responded claiming that currency they also does not have any idea but reassured fans that the development will continue. Speculations are made that the Pal catching animation is similar to catching Pokémon, which can be one of the points of patent infringement.

Most recently, the game was released on PlayStation and this partnership with Krafton reveals that the company is keeping strong on their statement. However in case Nintendo wins the lawsuit, fans might see some changes.
