Gamer Legion makes Team Vitality sweat at BLAST Premier Fall Groups opener

With the conclusion of the CS2 Esports World Cup, the race for World Final 2024 is on once again and 16 teams are competing at the BLAST Premier Fall Groups 2024. Groups A and B recently concluded their upper bracket semifinals and for the most part, the games were pretty straightforward except for one.

Team Vitality matched with Gamer Legion and saw a surprising defeat as Vitality is considered one of the strongest teams. Compared to them, Gamer Legion was believed to have no chance of surviving a match, let alone making them sweat. The team also recently modified their roster.

Match overview

The match started on Anubis, where Gamer Legion matched Team Vitality in the first half without any issues. Fans were quite impressed, but the team went one step ahead and managed to secure their pick. This was a problem as losing the first game meant Vitality was not playing to win any more, they were aiming to drag the game into the decider.

However, not everything went as planned. After reaching map point, Vitality dropped the ball and lost four rounds, giving Gamer Legion an overtime. In fact, the match went on for double overtime before Vitality finally closed the game.

The decider game on Mirage, however, went quite well for Vitality as the team secured the upper bracket finals and will be facing Astralis next. Sphinx remained the hero of Vitality which carried them throughout the second game.

Spirit and Heroic to clash in Group A

Group A saw Team Spirit defeat OG and Heroic taking down Complexity to reach the upper bracket finals. Both teams will now clash with each other and give Heroic another opportunity for a payback. The last few encounters at Betboom Dacha Belgrade and PGL Major Copenhagen European RMR B between Heroic and Spirit have not been the best for the former.
