Following the ongoing health issues, Fnatic has decided to bench one of its young stars, Leo “Leo” Jannesson before the upcoming VCT EMEA Split 2. The announcement came from the official X account, with Team Director CoJo breaking the news to everyone.

“After internal discussions around with Leo and the staff, we’ve decided it would be best for Leo to take some time away from the team to recover,” CoJo said. “This is a tough time for Leo as well, of course, so make sure you guys send forth a lot of support his way,” he added.

Leo facing health issues since Split 1

Fnatic recently secured Split 1 and made their way to the Valorant Masters Shanghai, where Leo’s condition was visibly getting worse during the matches. Reports suggest that he also got food poisoning during his time in Shanghai.

Despite that, he kept on playing. This is believed to be one of the reasons why the team’s performance was off, leading to an early exit from the Playoffs. The team first faced a loss against GenG dropping to the lower bracket where they were defeated by FUT Esports.

To fill up his spot, Fnatic has brought in Emirhan “Hiro” Kat from Papara SuperMassive as a substitute and will be present at the upcoming match against BBL Esports on June 19 with the team.

Fans of the rising star have wished him well and a speedy recovery to be back in action. As for Hiro, CoJo revealed that the team already have had eyes on him. Since he is now eligible to play in VCT, Fnatic decided to give him a shot.

Many of the fans suggested picking up someone from MandatoryGG who they are partnered, while others supported the decision, calling Hiro a worthy pick in the team. Split 2 for VCT EMEA is set to commence on June 18
