Elden Ring Nightreign will not feature message system

More details regarding Elden Ring Nightreign have now surfaced following an interview with the game director Junya Ishizaki. A lot of new things have been revealed since the initial announcement including the removal of the message system meaning that players won’t find any messages in the world of Elden Ring Nightreign and can’t communicate with random people indirectly.

All of this was revealed during the IGN interview when Ishizaki was asked about the illusions of other players and messages. For those who played the game, which is presumably many considering the game sold over 30 million copies, random messages were one of the entertaining aspects of the game. They were also present in older FromSoftware games.

The reason to remove this function, however, is justified. Elden Ring Nightreign is made keeping the gameplay loop of about 40 minutes with the circle gradually shrinking. During that little time, players will not get much chance to read or write messages as per Ishizaki. The illusions, however, remain.

Elden Ring Nightreign devs are quite confident about the game

Despite Hidetaka Miyazaki only being involved till the concept phase for Elden Ring Nightreign, Ishizaki is quite confident in what they have created. The sessions are 40 minutes long and the game features eight playable characters to choose from. There is also a story that thankfully does not collide with the original game as Nightreign is a parallel world.

Another thing to note is that despite the game being a three-player co-op, players cannot launch it with two players. They can launch it solo but still no two-player option as the devs wanted to give a completely different experience. There is also no four-player option because then the game would be easy.

There is only one area and no exploration in Elden Ring Nightreign as revealed previously. With each run, the environment will also change giving a completely new experience each time player loads into the game.
