The release date for Elden Ring: Nightreign is yet to be revealed, however, Fromsoftware is giving players a chance to try out the game during a network test that will be held sometime in February 2025. This is being done to prepare the servers to handle as many players as possible on launch, and this isn’t something new.

In-fact, even Elden Ring had a similar network test ahead of launch. Many other developments studios also choose to do the same, however, it can be hard to tell on how big of a scale these are performed as people are selected randomly. Registration for the test starts January 10th.

The network testing is also a form of beta testing where the developers also gather feedback regarding the game and if something is off, they can easily make adjustments before the launch of the game. Although not everything will be revealed in order to make people go ‘this is different’ on launch.

“The network test is a preliminary verification test in which the selected testers play a portion of the game prior to the full game launch. Various technical verifications of online systems will be examined by conducting large-scale network load tests,” the official statement said.

Bad news for PC gamers

Sadly, PC gamers will have to make do with videos uploaded by testers for an early look at Elden Ring: Nightreign. This is because the Network Test is only for PlayStation 5 (PS5) and Xbox Series X/S users, as per the official website.

This is likely done in order to reserve the details regarding the game leaking before the launch, as people are more likely to data-mine the PC version of the game as compared to the consoles. While no PC testing is a letdown, it is done to make the game much more enjoyable.
