Okami Sequel wasn’t the only surprise from Capcom, as the company also announced another entry into beloved franchise Onimusha with a new game Onimusha: Way of the Sword, set to release in 2026. Kamiya previously expressed his desire to revive other lost video game franchises like Dino Crisis and Darkstalkers and these announcements feels like the company might be planning to revive old franchises.

Capcom making it easy for players to experience classic games

Okami HD is currently available at a 75% discount on Steam as part of Capcom’s The Game Awards sale. As per SteamDB, this is a new all-time low for the game and is a great chance for a younger audience to experience one of the most popular cult classic games.

The game sets players in the shoes of Japanese sun goddess, Amaterasu, who is on a quest to defeat Orochi, an eight-headed demon. Along with an incredible story, the unique ink art style visuals for the game were also among one of the eye-catching points of the game. Okami HD further improved the visuals with its PC port back in 2017.

At the moment, Kamiya revealed that the development for the game is currently under way and there is some time before they hear from the studio. This should give players plenty of time to experience the first game.
