Steam Deck compatibility for Assassin’s Creed Shadows on launch is now a reality as Ubisoft confirms support over an official statement. Previously, fans were left disappointed with no Deck support as the company cited the lack of system requirements. However, it seems the demand has increased enough to justify adjustments for the handheld.
“Many of you have been asking about Steam Deck. We are happy to say that we are supporting Steam Deck at launch and are currently awaiting the level of classification from Valve. More info to come soon,” the official Assassin’s Creed account posted on X (Twitter).
Assassin’s Creed Shadows Climbing Steam Top Seller Charts
A month ago, the CEO of Ubisoft, ‘Yves Guillemot’, reported that pre-orders for the game were healthy. At the time, there were other more anticipated games lined up for release, however, now that the path is clear, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is also spotted climbing the global top-seller charts on Steam like Naoe climbs walls in the game.
While it is currently in the 12th spot, the game has made a massive jump in the rankings and will likely break into the top 10 ahead of its release on March 20th now that the game will feature Steam Deck support. The recent gameplay reveals also look great and could be a big reason contributing to the pre-orders.

Why is Steam Deck support important for Assassin’s Creed Shadows?
Steam Deck is a very popular handheld device and having support for the device is a huge advantage for many game developers. Many people want to play games on the go and if Assassin’s Creed Shadows can provide a stable playable experience, it will ultimately increase sales.
There are a few questions in everyone’s mind as the game also makes use of Ray Tracing and people are wondering how it will run as Steam Deck does not have the hardware capability. Perhaps the RT aspect may have been removed or limited. Regardless, fans have called this a massive win for Ubisoft.
