Following multiple delays, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is finally set to land on March 20th and Ubisoft is feeling confident about the game. In a recent earnings report, the company expressed its confidence in the game following several positive reviews from early testers. Pre-orders for the game are also reported to be very good.

“Early previews have been positive, praising its narrative and immersive experience, with both characters playing critical roles in the game’s storyline, as well as the quality and complementarity of the gameplay provided by the dual protagonist approach,” said Yves Guillemot, CEO of Ubisoft.

Pre-orders for Assassin’s Creed Shadows tracking solidly

Talking more about the game, Guillemot said that pre-orders for the game are as good as Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. For those wondering how well the game did, Ubisoft reported over 10 million sales for AC Odyssey. “Pre-orders for the game are tracking solidly, in line with those of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, the second most successful entry of the franchise,” the CEO said.

Since the delays, new gameplay features added to the game have managed to impress critics, which could be a big reason why Ubisoft is reporting good pre-orders. Although these pre-orders reported do not seem to be on Steam's top sellers, which currently feature Monster Hunters Wild, Elden Ring Nightreign, and Avowed. Assassin’s Creed Shadows hasn’t popped up in the top 100 yet.

What is the Assassin’s Creed Shadows controversy?

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is regarded as a highly controversial game for many reasons. The addition of Balck Samurai Yasuke was criticised by many people and the first gameplay/parkour reveal also did not go as planned by Ubisoft.

The game was eventually delayed for more ‘quality of life’ adjustments, but the first impression stuck around with a lot of people. Ubisoft’s reputation in recent days also did not help player confidence, especially after an underwhelming launch of Star Wars Outlaws.
