According to Fortnite, Apple banned its submission, preventing it from being released on the US App Store or the European Union's Epic Games Store for iOS. Many fans thought that Epic Games' massive May 15 update would bring Fortnite back to iOS platforms; however, they were forced to postpone it until May 16.  Right now, Fortnite is amid its Galactic Battle mini-season, which has a Star Wars theme.

Powerful weapons like lightsabres have been reinstated by Epic Games, and blasters from the venerable series have even taken the role of several loot items.  New skins of well-known characters, like Emperor Palpatine, Mace Windu, Jar Jar Binks, General Grievous, and others, have also been made available to fans. Epic Games recently announced on Twitter that Apple had rejected Fortnite's application to reapply for a place in the US App Store.

Since the well-liked battle royale game cannot be released on the Epic Games Store for iOS in the European Union, this has, regrettably, had a significant global impact on fans. Epic Games has stated that unless Apple unblocks it, Fortnite will not be accessible on iOS globally. Since it was recently revealed that the game would soon be coming to the platform, many fans were extremely disappointed.

Fortnite was taken off iOS devices as a result of Epic Games' protracted legal battle, which began in 2020.   Fans would once again be able to play the game on iOS following a recent court decision that went against Apple. Despite submitting the game to Apple, Fortnite never heard back.   Epic Games even resubmitted Fortnite to Apple for clearance in an attempt to bring the game back to iOS, which gave many gamers hope that the battle royale would be available on iOS with the May 16 update.

Epic Games filed lawsuit against Apple

Things didn't work out as expected, though, so Epic Games had to release a statement outlining why the game will not be available on iOS devices around the globe. Things have been tense between the two companies since the lawsuit in 2020. Epic Games even went so far as to release a skin called Tart Tycoon in Fortnite, which poked at Apple. It was recently teased that the cosmetic could be making a return, which surprised and delighted a large portion of the community that missed out on its initial release. Despite a few hiccups between Apple and Epic Games, many players are feeling optimistic about the future of Fortnite.
