Activision criticized for using AI art
Activision was once again spotted using AI-generated artwork similar to the Guitar Hero Mobile promotion across its Facebook page. The artwork, however, isn’t there to represent the actual game or promotion but instead asks for player feedback and thoughts. The whole process seems bizarre but points toward Activision’s interest in mobile gaming.
None of the games showcased in the image are real. The Guitar Hero Mobile advert posted a few days back was also a similar experiment in getting player feedback as reported by CharlieIntel. Download links for them took people to the survey page. The two new mobile games were Call of Duty: Sniper and Call of Duty Zombies Defender.
Activision is running ads on their official Facebook and Instagram asking for people's thoughts on "Call of Duty®: Sniper" and "Call of Duty® Zombies Defender" mobile game, which have AI generated art.

Fans react to Activision using AI-generated art
AI is a highly controversial topic in gaming with almost all games receiving backlash for using generative AI during any step. Activision recently unveiled that the company was using AI inside Call of Duty games and the most recent posts don’t help their case. Regardless of the survey or not, fans were wondering if saving a few bucks is what the company needs. Here’s what people had to say -
Trillion dollar company using AI for art... They're worse than EA

Gaming companies focusing more on Artificial Intelligence
Activision seems to be creating problems for themselves as a regular poster would have worked well if the company wanted to ask for feedback regarding the games. This is also the main point of community criticism. Speaking of criticism, the ongoing SAG-AFTRA video games strike is also regarding the same issue with actors asking for protection against using their skills in generative AI.
