Guitar Hero mobile is coming to mobile, possibly with AI Photograph: (Activision)
A few days back, Activision finally admitted to using generative AI in some areas of recent Call of Duty games like Black Ops 6 and Warzone. However, it seems that the company is expanding its use across other games, as the promotion image for the mobile port Guitar Hero was also made using AI.
The use of AI was quite obvious, which makes everyone wonder if this will be the route Activision will go moving forward. Microsoft has already expressed its desire to use its own AI (Muse AI) for game development, which may explain the increasing use in recent months.
Fans react to Activision’s new AI poster
It wasn’t long after the comments section of the post flooded. “I was actually excited, but then I saw the cover; it's made out of AI, so I won't touch this, sorry,” one user said while another called the game ‘AI Hero’. A lot of similar comments surfaced; however, fans are still hoping that the use is limited to promotional art.

Guitar Hero is a very popular rhythm game franchise, which could be the reason why fans were so excited to see the game land on mobile. However, the use of AI has raised doubts among people. If the company could not put effort into making proper promotional art, how much effort did they put into porting the game on mobile devices? This makes everyone wonder if it will simply be a cash grab.

Rise in mobile gaming leading to loss in game quality?
It’s not a secret that mobile games are rapidly becoming more and more popular. This is largely thanks to devices becoming more and more powerful to run games properly while also becoming more affordable. Eleven handheld gaming devices will have a hard time competing with them, although this brings another issue of multiple sloping games with no quality control. Many companies are now sacrificing game quality to put in as many games as possible for a quick buck.
