Richard Ngarava has been appointed the new captain of the Zimbabwean Test and ODI sides, respectively. Likewise, Brian Bennett has been named the new vice-captains of Zimbabwe's Test and ODI squads. Zimbabwe Cricket's Chairman, Tavengwa Mukuhlani, confirmed the same with a press conference, highlighting the new era in Zimbabwe.
Tavengwa Mukuhlani explained the reason behind naming Ngarava the new skipper of Zimbabwe's Test and ODI sides. The Zimbabwe Cricket's Chairman claimed that the left-arm pacer has had a remarkable growth in the last few years both as a player and as a leader. He claimed that Ngarava commands respect in the dressing room. Mukuhlani believed Ngarava to be the right guy to take forward Zimbabwe Cricket.

"Ngarava has shown remarkable growth as a player and leader over the years. He commands respect within the dressing room and has consistently delivered for Zimbabwe across all formats. We believe he is ready to lead the team into its next chapter," Tavengwa Mukuhlani explained in the press conference.

Briant Bennett, who has played 11 Tests and ODIs each, has been named Ngarava's deputy at the age of just 22. Mukuhlani noted that it is a reflection of the confidence the board has on him. He regarded Bennett as the future of the Zimbabwean Cricket.

"Brian's appointment as vice-captain reflects our confidence in his cricketing intelligence, maturity and long-term leadership potential. He represents the future of Zimbabwean cricket," Mukuhlani added.
He further praised Craig Ervine for his professionalism, resilience and dignity during Zimbabwe's tough period. "Craig Ervine led with professionalism, resilience and dignity during a challenging period. ZC is deeply grateful for his contribution to the team's stability and progress," he said.
