What is Chennai Super Kings’ highest team total in IPL?

Chennai Super Kings, playing their final game of the IPL 2025 season, took on Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The MS Dhoni-led side put on an impressive showing with the bat, scoring 230 runs for the loss of five wickets from their 20 overs. Dewald Brevis led the batting charts with his 23-ball 57 runs, while Devon Conway scored 52 off 35 balls. 

Interestingly, the last nine times that CSK has scored 220 runs or above, they have gone on to win the game. Chennai Super Kings’ highest ever score in the IPL is 246 for the loss of five wickets, which came against Rajasthan Royals in the 2010 season. Murali Vijay’s century had helped CSK reach the massive total and win the game by 23 runs. 

In the second spot, Chennai’s 242 for six came in the now-defunct Champions League T20 game against Dolphins in 2014. In that game, Suresh Raina’s 90 off 43 was the top score for CSK, which helped them win the game by 54 runs. This total, though, doesn’t count in Chennai’s top team totals in the IPL. 

Chennai Super Kings’ previous best team totals in IPL history

When we speak about Chennai’s second-best team total in the IPL, it came in the 2008 season against Punjab Kings in Mohali. Michael Hussey’s unbeaten 116 off 54 balls helped CSK score a mammoth 240 on the board from their 20 overs for the loss of five wickets. PBKS scored 207 in reply to lose by 33 runs despite fifties from James Hopes and Kumar Sangakkara. 

CSK’s third highest team total in IPL history came against Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2023 season. Devon Conway and Shivam Dube scored brisk fifties but it was Ajinkya Rahane’s unbeaten 29-ball 71 which helped CSK reach 235/4 on the board. In reply, KKR scored 186 for 8 on the board as CSK won by 49 runs and also went on to win the title that year.
