Delhi Capitals (DC), led by KL Rahul’s 77, put up a decent total on the board versus Chennai Super Kings. Axar Patel had no hesitation in batting first after winning the toss in the 17th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Saturday. CSK had come into the game after the last two games against Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Rajasthan Royals.
KL Rahul, who was opening the batting instead of Faf du Plessis, scored 77 runs off 51 balls with six boundaries and three sixes. This was the first fifty of the season for Rahul, as the veteran batter continued his purple patch with the bat. The 32-year-old was one of the key batters for India in their Champions Trophy win just a few weeks ago.

Former DC pacer Khaleel Ahmed was yet again the standout performer with the ball for the Chennai team. The left-arm seamer bowled overs and gave away 25 runs and picked two wickets. Ahmed got the wicket of Jake Fraser-McGurk for a duck and then got the scalp of Sameer Rizvi for 20 caught by Ravindra Jadeja.
Can Chennai Super Kings end their losing run?
CSK will open with Rachin Ravindra and Devon Conway, with the latter replacing Jamie Overton for the game. Rahul Tripathi endured a bad run of form with the bat, which saw the veteran batter lose his spot in the side. Chennai needs to win this game to keep in touch with the top four spots in the table.
Meanwhile, there are rumours floating that MS Dhoni could possibly call time on his career at the end of the game. Cameras showed Dhoni’s parents attending the game and this set the rumour mills on social media. This is possibly the first time that MSD’s parents have come to watch a game live in the stadium.
Abhishek Porel played a cameo as he scored 33 runs from 21 balls while skipper Axar Patel scored a quick-fire 21 with the bat. Tristan Stubbs gave the finishing touches with the bat as he was not out on 24 runs from just 12 balls with two fours and a six.
