Delhi Capitals (DC) batters made a great start in the 17th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 on Saturday. Abhishek Porel showed cricket fans why he is considered one of the best young talents with the bat in domestic cricket. The 22-year-old was at his best with the bat as he took a special liking to left-arm seamer Mukesh Chaudhary.

Mukesh Chaudhary was asked to bowl the second over of the game as the left-seamer made his way into the side for Rahul Tripathi. The first ball of the over was a dot-ball, and the second ball saw Porel play a crunching drive straight down the ground for a boundary. The bowler banged the ball short and Porel got into position early and played the perfect swivel pull shot for a six.
The next two balls saw two more fours being hit as Chaudhary banged the ball in short on both occasions. Porel was up to the task as he placed the ball over the keeper and the slip region to score 19 runs off the over. Chaudhary was unlucky with one of the boundaries as the batter had failed to get touch off his bat. The umpire, though, signaled it four runs.
Khaleel Ahmed strikes massive blow in the first over
Having won the toss and elected to bat first, Axar Patel led Delhi Capitals lost their first wicket in the opening over of the game. Jake Fraser-McGurk tried to clear the field but managed to offer a simple catch to Ashwin as Khaleel Ahmed claimed the first wicket of the game.
After the 19-run blitz in the second over, CSK bowlers managed to pull things back into their favor. Just 12 runs came from the next two overs as Delhi reached 32 for the loss of one wicket at the end of four overs. Bowling his third over, Khaleel gave away 11 runs, which also included a six by KL Rahul over the deep square leg region.
Just against the run of play, Ravindra Jadeja got the wicket of Porel caught by Pathirana in the fifth ball of the seventh over of the game. At the end of the first power-play, Delhi had scored 76 for the loss of two wickets from nine overs. Axar Patel was batting on 18 and KL Rahul was keeping him company on 25.
