The camaraderie between Team India players and head coach Gautam Gambhir were on display during the ongoing first Test against Bangladesh. On Day 2 (Friday) at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai, captain Rohit Sharma’s playful gesture towards youngster Shubman Gill brought laughter in the Indian dugout.

During India’s first innings, when Ravichandran Ashwin and Akash Deep were trying to take their team’s lead further, the camera captured a hilarious moment in the Indian dressing room.

Rohit was seen casually hitting Gill on his jaw and Virat Kohli, who was sitting next to the Indian captain, notified him that the camera was focusing on them. Soon the veteran opener burst into laughter, which spread to everyone in the frame, including Gambhir and Kohli.

India end Day 2 in commanding position as pacers rattle Bangladesh

India were invited to bat first on a difficult batting pitch and they responded with 376, thanks to Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja’s rescue operation after a batting collapse. Barring Yashasvi Jaiswal’s half-century, there were no significant contributions from the Indian top and middle order.

Hasan Mahmud and Taskin Ahmed wreaked havoc with five and three-wicket hauls. However, Ashwin’s 113 and Jadeja’s 86 put India in the driver’s seat. Batting in reply, Bangladesh got to taste their own medicine as Indian pacers put up a stunning show.

Jasprit Bumrah starred with a four-fer while Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep and Jadeja picked up two wickets each. The visitors were bundled out for 149 in the 48th over, handing India a huge first-innings lead.

Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal walked out to bat in the second innings with an aim to extend the lead further. However, the two parted ways early without much contribution. Virat Kohli was the next to depart as he failed to recognise a clear spike on his bat. Meanwhile, India ended Day 2 with a lead of 308 with Shubman Gill (33* off 64) and Rishabh Pant (12 off 13) at the crease.
