In the ongoing 1st Test match between India and Bangladesh, all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin smashed a brilliant century, taking India's score past the 300-run mark. Along with the support of Ravindra Jadeja from the other end, both batters wreaked havoc on the visitor's bowling attack, making their day unforgettable.

The quality of cricket shown by both batters today filled every Indian's heart with pride and honour. While Ashwin scored 100 runs off 108 balls, Jadeja hit a brilliant half-century and is heading towards a wonderful ton. These performances came after the Indian batting unit crumbled in the first half of the game.

Both Chennai boys played some fearless cricket, helping India get to a decent score on the board. Jadeja welcomed Shakib Al Hasan with a boundary, and Ashwin continued the momentum by hitting one-six and two boundaries. Meanwhile, Ashwin and Jadeja scored ten boundaries and two sixes each. Apart from these players, Yashasvi Jaiswal hit a prolific 56 runs off 116 before getting out to Nahid Rana.

But Hasan Mahmud changed Bangladesh's bowling as he picked up the top four batters' wicket in the first half of the game. Rohit Sharma-led Indian team have finally reached a good total and if they manage to get some 100-odd runs, it will be difficult for the visitors to win the game.

Rohit's leadership and respect in the dressing room are crucial: Gautam Gambhir

Meanwhile, India's head coach briefly interacted with the Sports 18 network, where he spoke about Rohit Sharma's captaincy and how he has handled the team. Moreover, Gambhir also mentioned that they have healthy discussions in the team, but the captain's opinion becomes the ultimate one.

"We've had several conversations. I believe that the team ultimately belongs to the captain because he leads on the field. My role, along with the support staff, is to assist the captain in every way possible. There will be disagreements, but the final decision rests with the captain. Rohit's leadership and respect in the dressing room are crucial," said Gautam Gambhir during an interaction with Sports 18 network.
