The third day of the Test between India and Bangladesh in Chennai belonged to Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant. The young duo came back to sizzling form as they scored centuries with the bat. At the end of the day, Gill was speaking to the media when he revealed an hilarious conversation.

Indian batting sensation, addressing the media, said, “I'm playing with a bat that I played against England. So my bat is quite old, actually, and he was hitting my bat so hard. I was telling him, you know, I'm trying to save my bat, and if he didn't middle that if he didn't middle it while in the middle, he would say no, let's do it again, bro, calm down."

Thanks to the twin centuries, India were able to set Bangladesh a huge target of 515. The visitors had already lost four wickets with R. Ashwin, claiming three scalps and Jasprit Bumrah taking one wicket.

Shubman Gill reveals how he got his confidence

Ever since taking over the number 3 spot, there has been a lot of questions asked about Gill. It wasn’t an easy transition from the opening slot to a position that was held by Cheteshwar Pujara for over a decade.

When asked about this, Gill said, “I think the series that I had against England gave me a lot of confidence. I felt it was a long time coming for me, especially batting at that position . And having got out the way I got out in the first innings. I was obviously very disappointed.”

The Indian batting sensation also added, “But it further motivated me to be able to spend a lot of time on the crease and put extra value on my wicket. I think my best is yet to come.”

Rohit Sharma will hope to pick up the remaining six wickets on Sunday and win the game. Play ended early on Saturday as bad light saw the players taken off the field. For the visitors, skipper Najmul Shanto is batting with Shakib Al Hasan. The duo will hope to delay the inevitable against a strong Indian bowling unit.
