Team India took a commanding lead on the 2nd day of the opening Test versus Bangladesh in Chennai. Pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah was the best bowler for the home team with figures of 4/50 from his 11 overs. Thanks to the efforts of the right-arm pacer, India took a huge lead of 227 runs going into the 2nd innings.

Taskin Ahmed came out to bat and looked to hang around with Mehidy Hasan Miraz in avoiding the follow on. That’s when the Bangladeshi pacer was given a serious working over by Bumrah. India’s ace pacer bowled a couple of short balls to Taskin and hit him on his body couple of times.

In the 4th ball of the 43rd over, Bumrah bowled a terrific yorker to dismiss the Bangladeshi pacer. Taskin Ahmed was out for 11 off 21 balls with 1 four as he saw his middle-stump being pegged back.

Taskin Ahmed had the Indian skipper out for 5 caught by Zakir Hasan. Nahid Rana bowled well to get the wicket of Yashasvi Jaiswal for 10 caught by Litton Das.

Earlier in the day, Bangladesh came out to bat in their 1st innings after bowling out India for 376. Jasprit Bumrah got the first wicket when he castled Shadman Islam for 2. Akash Deep then dismissed Zakir Hasan and Mominul Haque off successive balls.

Mohammed Siraj then struck after lunch as he dismissed Shanto caught by Kohli for 20. Mushfiqur Rahim fell to Bumrah who was caught in the slips by KL Rahul for 8. Shakib Al Hasan and Litton Das tried to fightback as the duo added 51 runs for the 6th wicket.

Ravindra Jadeja then dismissed both the set batters in quick succession. Dhruv Jurel took a tumbling catch to send Das back to the hut for 22. Rishabh Pant took a smart catch to end Shakib’s vigil for 32. Mehidy Hasan was not out on 27 off 52 balls as his teammates collapsed around him to give India huge lead.
