At the Oakland Coliseum on Friday night, Faf du Plessis made a spectacular catch to remove Michael Bracewell in the second Major League Cricket (MLC) match. The 40-year-old sports veteran jumped to his right to take a blinder during the Texas Super Kings vs. MI New York game.
Following a slower back-of-a-length delivery from Adam Milne, Bracewell flat-batted the ball with respectable volume. When it looked like the ball might elude the former South Africa captain, Faf du Plessis, who is now almost 41 years old, moved to his right and soared through the air like a bird before using his right hand to break it.

To prevent losing possession of the ball upon impact, the TSK captain gathered himself and brought himself down. The fourth wicket of the innings seemed insignificant as the Nicholas Pooran-led MI New York seemed poised to chase the score down, bringing MINY to 121/4 after 13.2 overs as they sought 186 runs.

Faf du Plessis and Devon Conway started team's innings with good start
Earlier, du Plessis and Devon Conway had opened the innings with a quick 18 off 15 balls, but his influence was felt far more in the field and as a skipper. The veteran has assumed full-time skipper responsibilities for the Texas Super Kings after just concluding his IPL 2025 stint with the Delhi Capitals. He brings tactical acumen and composed leadership to the role.
MINY's chase got off to a bad start as they were reduced to 15/2 by the fourth over after losing openers Agni Chopra and Quinton de Kock to single figures. Bracewell (38 from 21) and Monak Patel (62 from 44 balls) stabilized the ship further down the order. Another seasoned player, Kieron Pollard, helped the 2023 MLC winners advance with a scorching 32 from 16 balls.
