CSK batter set to play for Yorkshire in County 2025 season and One-Day Cup

In what seems to be a piece of big news for the Indian cricket fans, the CSK skipper and young batter Ruturaj Gaikwad has been roped in by the English County, Yorkshire. The star Indian batter will play for Yorkshire in the remainder of the County 2025 season and the One-Day Cup.

Gaikwad was ruled out of the recently concluded IPL 2025 due to an injury, which led management to appoint the legendary wicketkeeper-batter MS Dhoni as skipper for the remainder of the tournament. Now, Ruturaj is all set to make a comeback in competitive cricket after a comeback from the injury.

He will feature for Yorkshire in the upcoming game against Surrey at Scarborough. He might be utilised by the management to bat in the top order of the batting line up, most probably as an opener.

Speaking of Gaikwad’s First-Class career, he has scored 2376 runs in 38 FC games, with an average of 41.77, hitting seven centuries. Besides that, he has also scored runs with 4324 runs in 83 innings of the 86 List-A games he has played. The 26-year-old has scored these runs with an average of 56.15, hitting 16 centuries and 17 half-centuries.

He could also be a crucial asset with the bat for Yorkshire in the upcoming One-Day Cup 2025 in England.

Gaikwad himself came up with his first reaction after getting signed by Yorkshire for the County 2025 season and the One-Day Cup.

“I’m excited to be joining up with Yorkshire for the rest of the English domestic season. It has always been a goal of mine to experience cricket in this country, and there is no bigger Club in England than Yorkshire. I know how important it is that I hit the ground running at what will be a crucial part of the season. We have some vital games in the County Championship, and the One Day Cup is a great opportunity to win some silverware,” Gaikwad was quoted as saying by Yorkshire’s official website.
