As per the schedule decided by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the young opener Shubman Gill and pacer Avesh Khan will be flying back to India after the conclusion of India’s matches in the group stage of the tournament. Notably, the men in blue played their all-group matches in the United States of America.

Both Gill and Avesh were the part of Indian squad as the travelling reserves for the marquee international tournament. Meanwhile, it was also decided before the start of the tournament that the team won’t require Shubman Gill and Avesh Khan for the Caribbean leg as the conditions will be spin-friendly, ruling out the requirement of pacer Avesh Khan.

On the other hand, the availability of Yashasvi Jaiswal as an additional opener will not make a place for Shubman Gill to fit in the squad.

Amidst all this, there were rumours in social media that Gill was released from the squad due to the ‘disciplinary issues’. However, the confusion and rumours were cleared by India’s batting coach Vikram Rathour.

Here's what batting coach Vikram Rathour said about Shubman Gill

“This was a plan from the beginning. When we come to the US, four players will come together. After that two will be released and two will travel with us to the West Indies. So, this plan was made from the beginning since the team was selected. This was planned so we are just following that,” said Vikram Rathour during a press conference. ‘

In the same line of development, Shubman Gill himself came up with a savage response to the rumours of ‘disciplinary issues’ in an Instagram story. In his latest Instagram story, Gill posted a photo with India skipper Rohit Sharma and his daughter Samaira Sharma.

“Sammy and I learning the art of discipline from Rohit Sharma,” wrote Gill in his story.
