Pakistan will end their T20 World Cup campaign with their final game against Ireland set to be played on Sunday. This is the last chance for some of the under-fire players from Pakistan to show their worth to the team.

Imad Wasim was one of the players expected to perform well for the Men in Green during the campaign. The veteran all-rounder made his return to the team just before the tournament after coming out of his retirement alongside Mohammad Amir.

The 35-year-old was addressing the media ahead of their final match against Ireland. Imad Wasim was rather candid and open about the failures that had besieged the Pakistani team and their failure to make it to the Super-8 stages of the tournament.

‘Can’t go lower than this’ -Imad Wasim makes an honest assessment of Pakistan’s T20 World Cup campaign

Wasim, like the rest of his Pakistani teammates, is set to fly back home after their early exit from the tournament. Babar Azam and his side will play Ireland in the last match on Sunday in Florida. Speaking to the media before the game, the all-rounder gave his honest assessment about the way the team had performed.

"Yes, this is the lowest point. You can't go any lower than this. That's the fact. I know we're out of the tournament and it's hard for the players but at the end, this is an international game, a World Cup game so we won't take anything lightly,” the all-rounder said.

The 35-year-old added, “We will go out there and play for the country and play for the pride of our country which we already did but unfortunately the results we can't control it. Yeah, but we go out there and play like it's a World Cup game.”

When asked to look back on the botched run chase against India, Imad Wasim credited the opposition and spoke about the planning while batting second. “The game plan was to take the ball deep. The wicket was not good to play. It was a little difficult. Unfortunately, my plan was going according to plan but not execution,” he said.

The Pakistan star also lauded Axar Patel when he said, "Because usually when I bat, I take the ball deep. And if I hit any boundary on either end, the game would have been different. Having said that, Axar did very well in bowling and he did it on the spot. He didn't bowl too badly. Usually, under pressure, bowlers give you a ball and there is a margin.”

Finally addressing the angry Pakistan fans Imad Wasim said “We want to tell the Pakistan public that we couldn’t perform and we are the ones to be blamed. Ek baat yeh kehna chahunga. Hum bhi insan hai, humse bhi galti ho sakti hai aur dukh humein bhi hota hai is cheez ka”
