Bumrah went around the stumps against Ben Stokes and got the ball to nip back into him, which ensured the ball clipped the top of the off-stump. He later pitched the ball up and invited the centurion Root to drive it. Sadly for the right-handed batter, the ball caught the inside edge and hit the middle stump.

In the very next ball, Bumrah operated on a good length outside the off stump against Chris Woakes. The new batter did not intend to play it, and neither wanted to leave it. The ball caught the outside edge, but the umpire wasn't convinced. Upon reviewing the decision, the spike was found on the Ultraedge, which meant Bumrah got his fourth in the innings.

In just the first session of Day 2, two Duke's balls were replaced for going soft way too early than expected. It has raised concerns over the quality of the Duke's balls, which are used by the England and Wales Cricket Board.
