India breach Edgbaston on the back of Shubman Gill's record-breaking outing and Akash Deep's 10-fer (X)

India scripted a historic win at Edgbaston and became the first Asian side to win a Test match in Birmingham. The visiting side outclassed the home side convincingly in all 3 facets of the game and beat them by 336 runs, their biggest in terms of runs away from home. Shubman Gill and Akash Deep starred for India with the bat and ball, respectively.
After being asked to bat first by England, India posted a mammoth total of 587 runs in their first innings. Gill starred with the bat, as he scored 269(387). He was assisted by Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ravindra Jadeja, who scored 87(107) and 89(137) respectively.

Replying to it, England lost their way in the first innings, as they were reduced to 84/5 at one stage. There was a good fight from the duo of Harry Brook and Jamie Smith, who scored 158(234) and 184*(207) respectively. However, India restricted England to 407 and claimed a lead of 180 runs.
India level the series 1-1 with 3 Tests to go
Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep claimed 6/70 and 4/88 with the ball and played a key role in the first innings. In the second innings, India had three half-centurions in KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, and Ravindra Jadeja, along with Gill's 161(162), which helped them declare after scoring 427/6 in 83 overs.

England had a task cut out, as they had to chase a massive total of 607 in about three and a half sessions. The target was way too out of reach even for a highly confident side like England. Deep was at his best, who claimed wickets for fun from his end. His 6/99 with a wicket each from other bowlers ensured India won by 336 runs to level the series 1-1.
