Akash Deep has bowled a brilliant spell at the end of the first session of the fifth day of the Edgbaston Test. The right-arm pacer has bowled 14 overs and claimed 4/58, including a maiden. Most importantly, all of his four wickets were of those who have batted well in the ongoing series, so far.

With the new ball, Deep got rid of Ben Duckett and Joe Root. The emerging pacer came with a good plan to counter Duuckett, as he used the crease well. He went around the wicket and bowled a series of deliveries slightly outside off, and brought one back in to induce an inside edge.

Duckett had no clue, as the ball hit the stumps and helped India get rid of the dangerous batter. He then trapped Root well. Very similar to Duckett, the right-arm pacer operated slightly wide of the off stump and forced the star batter to play the ball. He then changed the angle with his angle and release point.

Akash's change of angle meant Root was forced to play the ball that came towards the pads, only to cut away to hit the top of the off stump, which was the ball of the series. At the start of the fifth day, Deep got rid of Pope, who inside-edged the ball.

Deep then bowled a great delivery and got the ball to nip back into Brook and trapped him LBW. Throughout his spell, Deep got the ball moving. At the end of lunch, India had England at 153/6 and got closer to claiming their first win in Tests at Edgbaston.
