IND vs ZIM T20I Series : 5 players who can be the leading run-scorer in the upcoming T20 series ft. India's powerpack debutant

It is going to be a busy July for the Indian Cricket Team as they embark on their next assignment. Starting on the 6th of July, the men in blue will take on Zimbabwe in a five-match T20I series with all the matches set to be played at the Harare Sports Complex. The selectors have given Shubman Gill the task of leading the young team during the series. 

Zimbabwe is at full strength and will be led by Sikandar Raza who has played against most of the Indian players in the IPL. The veteran star will be looking to lead from the front with the bat and ball as it is rare that the Indian team comes across for a tour. 

The five-match series will also be a huge chance for many players from both sides to show their worth. For young players like Abhishek Sharma and Riyan Parag in particular it is a huge opportunity to stake their place in the team on a permanent basis.

5. Abhishek Sharma – India

The young left-handed batter was in his element during the IPL 2024 season for Sunrisers Hyderabad. Abhishek Sharma could be slotted in the top half of the batting order and asked to the same role that he did for his IPL franchise. With all the talent that he has, it will not be surprising if Abhishek Sharma ends up as the player with the most runs in IND vs ZIM T20I Series. 

4. Antum Naqvi – Zimbabwe 

The 25-year-old is coming into the team on the back of a successful domestic season. Antum Naqvi is a capable middle-order batter with the ability to hit the ball long and hard. He also can bowl well but it is big-hitting skills that will hold him in good stead during the series vs India.

3. Shubman Gill – India 

The stand-in skipper will be looked at with the task of shepherding the Indian batting charge. Shubman Gill was in good form during the end of the IPL 2024 season which included a century in the game against Chennai Super Kings. Shubman Gill will not only want to prove his worth as a batter but also as a skipper with the retirement of Rohit Sharma creating a void. 

2. Sikandar Raza – Zimbabwe 

With the Zimbabwean side being led by Sikandar Raza, the task of doing the bulk of the scoring will fall on the veteran star. It will not be a surprise if Sikandar Raza turns up as one of the players with the most runs in the IND vs ZIM T20 series. The right-handed batter is a main player in the Zimbabwean middle-order and his unorthodox batting will be one to watch out for in the coming series. 

1. Ruturaj Gaikwad – India 

Chennai Super King skipper and opening batting star Ruturaj Gaikwad will look to nail down a place in the Indian team. The right-handed batter will be one of the favourite players for the most runs in the IND vs ZIM T20 series. The 27-year-old already has a century in this format of the game and will want to pile on the runs during the series.
