The wicketkeeper batter showed up in an interview with Sports Tak where he opened up on the support he has gotten from the 37-year-old in his difficult period. The emerging star claimed to have spoken with Kohli whenever he wanted to. He claimed that Virat's suggestions helped him to be back in form when things weren't going his way.

"Virat Kohli has supported me in my tough times. Whenever I’ve had a problem, I talked to him and he helped me. When my performance was bad recently, I spoke to Virat bhai and he gave me his inputs, in the next match it helped me score 90+," Gurbaz said in his interview with Sports Tak.

Gurbaz and Kohli have interacted with each other during the post-match talks in the IPL numerous times. In many such instances, they even clicked images together. Gurbaz hasn't featured regularly in the IPL albeit being picked in the squad. Most notably, he has played for KKR in the league lately.

He could not establish himself in the team due to his inconsistency. For the same reason, Phil Salt was preferred over him in the 2024 season. In the following season in 2025, Quinton De Kock got chances ahead of him. With neither of them performing on a consistent basis, KKR will be eyeing for a better option for the 2026 season.
