Shah Rukh took to X and thanked Russell for all the wonderful memories. He regarded Russell as the shining armour of the 3-time champions and added that his contribution to the franchise is one for the books. "Thank you for the wonderful memories, Andre. Our Knight in shining armour!!! Your contribution to @KKRiders is one for the books," Shah Rukh wrote.

In his statement, Russell announced his retirement as a player. The star All-rounder claimed that it feels weird for him to play for any other team than KKR in the IPL. However, the veteran confirmed that he will continue to be a part of KKR as the Power Coach.
