England beat India in the Lord's Test by 22 runs to claim a lead of 2-1 in the series. Joe Root's brilliance in both innings coupled with a good bowling performances ensured England beat India with a thrilling end for the fifth day of the Test match. Ravindra Jadeja performed well with little support from the other end, which wasn't enough for India.

England won the toss and elected to bat first for the first time in the series. They posted 387 on the board, thanks to a hundred from Joe Root, fifties from Brydon Carse and Jamie Smith, and 44 from Ben Stokes. For India, Jasprit Bumrah bowled well and earned a spot on the Lord's Honors Board with a fifer.

In reply to it, India scored exactly 387 runs, marking the ninth instance of a tied total in the first innings of a Test. For India, KL Rahul scored a ton, his second at Lord's, while Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja scored 74 and 72, respectively. For England, Chris Woakes claimed 3 wickets, while Jofra Archer and Ben Stokes claimed 2 wickets each.

Ravindra Jadeja's performance goes in vain for India

England, in their second innings, scored just 192, as there was no batter who scored over 50 runs. Indian bowlers operated well and restricted England from getting away with the game. Washington Sundar was the pick of the bowlers, who claimed 4/22 in his 12.1 overs. Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj claimed 2 wickets each.

India, in their run chase, were going good with 41/1 at one stage. From there, they collapsed to 82/7. That's when Jadeja started to frame partnerships with Nitish Kumar Reddy, Bumrah, and Siraj. Despite Jadeja's valiant 61*(181), India lost the Test by 22 runs, as there was not enough support from the other end.
