India had England at 175/6 in 52 overs at the end of the tea break on the fourth day of the Lord's Test, thanks to a collectively good bowling performance. While Mohammed Siraj and other pacers stood out in the first session, Washington Sundar was the pick of the bowlers in the second session, who claimed back-to-back wickets.
Sundar noted that Root was either continuously playing sweep shots, or playing on the back foot against him and Ravindra Jadeja. He pitched one up and targeted the leg stump, as Root premeditated a sweep shot. However, the line and length of the ball meant he totally missed it and the ball did the rest by clipping the leg stump.
