Yograj Singh, a former cricketer for India, has criticized Shreyas Iyer, the captain of the Punjab Kings (PBKS), for his poor shot during the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025) final against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). In the top battle, Iyer edged Romario Shepherd behind the stumps to wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma, earning him a dismissal for 1 (2). His team was put under duress as the RCB made a comeback in the match after the PBKS captain lost his wicket at a critical moment.

Yograj Singh was especially upset with Iyer since he claimed that his shooting was a criminal offense and that no apology was necessary. “The shot which Shreyas Iyer played in the final was a criminal offence, according to me. Ashok Mankad told me about this criminal offence, which comes under Section 302. He also told me that the repercussions of this are that you will be banned for two matches. What Shreyas did yesterday is not acceptable. There is no apology for that,” Yograj told ANI.

Shreyas Iyer was just off a game-winning 87* (41) innings against the Mumbai Indians (MI) at the same stadium in Qualifier 2. Because of this, Punjab's hopes of winning the game depended heavily on his wicket. Only Shashank Singh (61* off 30) put up a fight with his side till the very end after being dismissed. But even though he had a spectacular innings, PBKS failed to reach their target by six runs.

Virat Kohli led the way with 43 (35), and Jitesh Sharma made a brief appearance with 24 (10). For Punjab, Arshdeep Singh (3/40) and Kyle Jamieson (3/48) each claimed three wickets.
