The sudden retirement announcements from the two legends of Indian cricket, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, have drawn a lot of reactions from former cricketers and experts of the game. Be it former legendary India skipper Sunil Gavaskar or any other influential figure in Indian cricket, everyone has reacted to the shocking decision taken by both the stars.
In the same vein, former India cricketer and Yuvraj Singh’s father, Yograj Singh, who is famously known for his bold opinions and statements while talking about cricket and Indian cricketers, came up with hard-and-fast-lined remarks while expressing his views about the Test retirement of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.
Yograj Singh had quite different views while speaking same time on Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. He considered that Kohli may have felt that there’s nothing left to achieve anymore.
“Rohit needed just one person to motivate him” – Yograj Singh
In the case of Rohit Sharma, the 67-year-old former India cricketer took a bit of tough stance and didn’t mince words while speaking about Rohit’s fitness.
“Virat is a big player, so it will obviously be a loss. When many players were either removed, retired, or coerced into retirement in 2011, the team fell apart and has still not stood back up. But everyone's time comes. I feel a lot of cricket is still left in Virat and Rohit,” said Yograj Singh to ANI.
“Maybe Virat feels that he has nothing more left to achieve. I think Rohit Sharma needed just one person to motivate him daily, for example, to go for a run at 5 AM,” he added later.

Furthermore, Yograj also remembered former India batter Virender Sehwag while resembling his early retirement with that of Rohit Sharma’s recent one.
“Rohit and Virender Sehwag are two people who retired too early... The greatest players should play till 50 years of age... I am sad about their retirement as no one is left to motivate the youngsters now,” he said.
