Bangladesh have announced a 16-member squad for the upcoming Test series against India. The first Test of the 2-match Test series will take place in Chennai on September 19. For the series, Bangladesh will travel to India on September 15 to play the matches which are part of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) cycle. Najmul Hossain Shanto is set to lead the series against India and will look for a similar result that they recently had against Pakistan by beating them in their own backyard 2-0.

Wicketkeeper-batter Jaker Ali Anik has been picked up by the side; he is the only uncapped player in the squad. Bangladesh have only one surprising exclusion: left-arm pacer Shoriful Islam, who is still recovering from a groin injury and will be unavailable for the series. Interestingly, Bangladesh's veteran all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is included in the series despite all the controversies.

There is a big challenging series ahead: Litton Das

Bangladesh batter Litton Das is quite excited to play red-ball cricket against India in the upcoming days. However, he did mention the fact that the team is concerned since playing against India in their own home ground could be tough and challenging. The hosts have a great spin attack in the form of Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Axar Patel, who will not allow the batters to settle in. Hence, the players will have to be extra careful since the first game is in Chennai.

"There is a big challenging series ahead (against India). For me as a player, that is in the past (Pakistan Series). But we definitely gained confidence from that. As for preparation, we are facing the main bowlers as much as we can. The SG ball is somewhat difficult. It's tough to play with the Kookaburra when the ball is new, but it's easier to play once the ball is old," Litton Das was quoted as saying by NDTV.

Bangladesh squad for the 2-match Test series against India:

Najmul Hossain Shanto (Captain), Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Zakir Hasan, Shadman Islam, Mominul Haque, Mushfiqur Rahim, Shakib Al Hasan, Litton Kumer Das, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Taijul Islam, Nayeem Hasan, Nahid Rana, Hasan Mahmud, Taskin Ahmed, Syed Khaled Ahmed, Jaker Ali Anik
