Ayush Mhatre opened up on the responsibility of captaincy and claimed that he enjoys it, which hence does not pressurise him. The emerging star then revealed the inputs he has taken from the legendary cricketers like MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma.
The 18-year-old has taken the SMAT on storm, scoring 325 runs in six innings at a strike rate of 166.66, including two tons and a fifty-plus score. He has also been the captain of the Indian U-19 team. Opening up on the same, he revealed that leadership is something he enjoys and added that it doesn't pressurise him.

"I enjoy captaincy, so it doesn’t pressurise me. I trust my process and play to the merit of the ball. I just see the ball and hit the ball. My main support has been the Mumbai Cricket Association. They gave me an opportunity at such a young age. If it weren’t for my father and nana-ji, I wouldn’t be here," Mhatre said in the sidelines of SMAT 2025.

He then opened up on the inputs taken from MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma. Mhatre claimed to have learnt to stay calm and not make decisions in haste. He regarded Rohit to be his idol and claimed to have learnt the art of playing pull shot from him.

"He [Dhoni] told me to be calm on the ground and not to make decisions in an aggressive mode. Rohit Sharma is my idol, so I follow him. I keep speaking to him. I took instructions from him about how he practises the pull shot and the drills involved," Mhatre added.
