After winning a championship with the Boston Celtics the previous season, Derrick White desired a quiet summer, but he was unexpectedly called up to Team USA to replace Kawhi Leonard. LeBron James, the captain of Team USA, was questioned by many fans if he thinks himself to be the greatest of all time after White won a gold medal at the Olympics in Paris. White seemed to agree with the question.

Despite Derrick White playing for the last eight seasons in the NBA, he and James haven't interacted much in public. The two-way guard, who is being seriously considered for the 2024 All-Star Game, has just lately gained notoriety. Last season, he averaged 15.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 5.2 assists, solidifying his place as an important member of the Boston Celtics in winning the NBA title.

Many current athletes have begun to subscribe to the belief that LeBron James is superior to Jordan. While other individuals have amazing winning accomplishments in the NBA, no player has played at LeBron's calibre in 22 seasons. While some may disagree with James' longevity in the GOAT discussion, his achievement in basketball is definitely unique.

In his 21st NBA season, LeBron averaged 25.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 8.3 assists. It will still be expected of him to lead the Lakers to a championship in the season. Having 20 years of NBA performance that ranks in the top 10 is a unique accomplishment that is purely personal, unlike winning titles as a member of a team.

The GOAT controversy will never go away, but it doesn't seem like Michael Jordan's championship records will keep people from having this topic. This is especially true when media figures and younger fans who never saw Jordan but saw LeBron play his whole career start to gain momentum.

When he hits the court alongside his son Bronny James, the all-time top scorer in NBA history will set yet another record, making history as the first father-son team to do this. Although another title would make James' place atop the basketball pantheon unquestionable, his legacy is essentially sealed in stone.
