LeBron James has long been seen as a loving father to Bronny James. The father-son team will respect some ground rules, especially when it comes to their on-court interactions, even if their relationship is about to take an unprecedented turn with both of them scheduled to play for the Los Angeles Lakers during the 2024–25 NBA season.

LeBron James made it plain in a teaser for a forthcoming episode of The Shop that Bronny will not be calling him "dad" when they're at work, whether it's at the practice facility, in the locker room, on the bench, or during a game. "No, we already laid that down," LeBron added. "He can't address me as 'dad' at work."

Here we look at the top five names which can be used for LeBron James when Bronny James is on the court:

1. Senior

While LeBron James is senior to figure to his son Bronny James, he can wear James Jr. on his back while playing for the Los Angeles Lakers. Ahead of the new NBA season which will start in October many NBA fans will be eager to watch the father-son duo playing for the Los Angeles Lakers.

2. His initials

As LeBron James has been told by Bronny James not to all his dad on the court he has many options Bronny James can use his initials on his Los Angeles Lakers jersey like ‘BLJ’. In NBA initials are very attractive and Bronny James using initials will be famous.

3. 23 or 2-3

As his father suggested, Bronny can address him by his shirt number. As players with the same last name, such as the three Williams players on the Oklahoma City Thunder roster Jalen, Jaylin, and Kenrich can attest, jersey numbers do help set them apart. Wearing No. 9, Bronny could refer to his dad as 23 or 2-3, but 23 is the better choice to minimize confusion when playing zone defence.

4. Pop

"Pops" has become more well-known on social media, in part because of a viral video in which a father seemed to be having difficulty controlling his laughter finally laughing into his shirt despite the serious subject matter of his kid talking about a school massacre. Informally, "Pops" is used to refer to older males as well, making it a less formal name than "dad." LeBron may be amenable to Bronny using this informal moniker.

5. Champ

Bronny might refer to LeBron James as "champ" in addition to expressing his admiration. Since only LeBron James and Anthony Davis who goes by "AD" have won championships while playing for the Los Angeles Lakers, this decision helps to minimize misunderstanding.
