The Phillip Island circuit in Australia gave us a spectacle all weekend from animal invasion to Marc Marquez's stunning victory. The weekend started with heavy rain which ruined the free practice session of the race. Martin emerged as the fastest man in qualifying and the 7-time world champion Marquez came in second.

The sprint race was won by Jorge Martin in the pole followed by Marc Marquez and Enea Bastianini. But the race gave us a spectacle that we hadn't seen in a while. The initial start was a disaster for Marquez as his helmet visor tear went under his rear tyre causing a spin during the start.

Marquez was pushed back to 13th at the opening lap and within the end of the lap, Marquez came fifth with his pure overtaking skills and fighting spirit. Ducati riders the reigning world champion Francesco Bagnaia and Enea Bastianini had an average weekend as they missed winning both during qualifying and the race despite having a higher-end machine.

'Overtake is winning' - Marquez

The Gresini racing rider Marquez with a GP 23 engine overtook many riders and he neared the world champion Bagnaia and race leader Jorge Martin who were having their battle at the front. A small mistake from Bagnaia created a chance for Marquez and he took the attack moving to second. He then followed Jorge Martin all along and it was all Marquez-Martin show.

Both the riders gave us one of the best high-class racing in the Phillip Islands. Jorge Martin was very good at defending his first position most of the time. But Marquez continuously attacked Martin in the corners as the Primac rider was super fast in the straights.

The end of the race was nearing and Marquez saved his tyres for the final attack in one corner Martin went wide slightly and the former world champion grabbed his chance and went for the lead. The overtake could very easily be the ‘Overtake of the year’. This is his 4th Australian MotoGP win for Marc Marquez at the Phillip Islands circuit in Melbourne.
