Sergio Perez has officially announced his exit from the Red Bull team after the 2024 season's downfall. We don't know whether it was Checo’s call or a forced decision, but both parties came to a mutual agreement and parted ways.
With this announcement, he will leave his teammate Max Verstappen behind, a very close friend of him. They shared many great races and achievements in these four years together at Red Bull. Perez was the biggest reason and a supporting pillar for Max Verstappen all these years.

Verstappen reacts to Perez's exit
After Checo’s announcement of leaving Red Bull Max Verstappen posted a special Instagram post for the Mexican legend saying “It’s been an absolute pleasure driving alongside you. We’ve had some amazing moments together that I’ll always remember.
Thank you, Checo!.” Perez also commented on the post saying “Thank you mate, will miss you! Keep killing it.” This shows how much bond and respect they have in person. Max also reacted to a photo of him and Checo taken during the 2021 Abu Dhabi GP and got a bit emotional seeing that.
It was his first world championship-winning moment and Verstappen says “Yeah, I remember this one (Championship winning picture with Checo). He’s (Perez) been a great teammate to me as you can see in this picture, without his help in that race that wouldn't have happened."
"So, I will always remember that and be thankful. You know him for that, but I think what’s the most important thing is he is straightforward and honest that's not many times you see in a teammate. I’m very thankful to Checo not as a teammate but as a person.”
Sergio Perez held Lewis Hamilton in the final Abu Dhabi Grand Prix race in 2021 and because of that Max Verstappen closed the gap with Mercedes and won the race on the final lap. After winning the race Max hugged Perez in the garage and both celebrated the win with complete joy.
The future for the Mexican driver is unknown and he won't be available for the 2025 Formula 1 season. He could make a comeback in 2026 as Cadillac F1 an American team.
