McLaren driver Oscar Piastri had enough of racing and now switched to his favourite sport, Cricket. The Australian driver was one of the biggest finds of this 2024 F1 season. With Lando Norris, he brought the long-awaited constructors championship to the McLaren camp after 26 years. The Australian-born F1 driver finished fourth in this year's championship table with 292 points.
The Formula 1 season is over, and the Australian is back in his home country. As a cricket fan, he enjoys watching cricket matches in his free time. So Oscar came to the mighty MCG and watched the Day 3 match of the Australia vs. India Boxing Day test match. He was also seen at the Australian dugout speaking with the players and spending time with them.
Oscar met with the commentators and even operated the camera robot manually. Popular commentators Ravi Shastri and Mark Howard gave commentary on his drive at the MCG. The Formula 1 superstars' arrival at the MCG lit up the energy level and added excitement to the thrilling match between India and Australia in Melbourne.
He is a great supporter of the baggy green, and he met the Australian cricket teams many times during the Ashes season. Piastri is also an IPL fan and always backs the team having more Australians on the side. A photo from Oscar Piastri’s childhood had surfaced where he was seen looking at Australian captain Ricky Pointing before the Ashes match.

Oscar is also the only Australian driver to win a Grand Prix in Formula 1 after Daniel Ricciardo’s win in Monza, Italy. This year he won the Hungary and Azerbaijan Grand Prix and was also a consistent performer, finishing inside the points table and missing out only once this season. McLaren is now in a good position to win the driver's title next year, with both Lando and Oscar looking very promising.

Since 1980, no Australian driver has won the Formula 1 championship. Jack Brabham and Alan Jones are the last Aussies to clinch the crown in F1. Mark Webber and Daniel Ricciardo came very close but couldn't break through. But Piastri looks like that one driver who can win the world title for Australia. This year he played as the perfect wingman for Lando Norris and helped him dominate Max Verstappen.

But 2025 is the final year of the current regulations, and every team will fight hard for the championship title. Oscar will also fight for the title against Max Verstappen and even against his teammate Norris. Keeping all these aside, Oscar is a big fan of cricket, and in his childhood, he aimed to become a cricketer.
