The roller coaster ride of the Formula 1 2024 season is over, and we are nearing the end of the year. This is the right time to see which teams performed best this time, and surprisingly, last year toppers Red Bull got humbled by McLaren and one surprising team from the midfield, Haas. The list was based on the team's performance, coordination, crew support, driver sync, team culture, and many other aspects, and it was not created based on team points.
Top 5 Performing Teams F1 2024
5. Mercedes

The team that dominated Formula 1 for most of the hybrid era has moved to the 5th spot this year. The reason is simple and clear: Lack of performance. For the last two years, Mercedes lost form and moved down year by year, searching for perfection, which they achieved some years back in the 2020 season. George Russell and Lewis Hamilton consistently finished inside the top 10, but is that enough for a team that won 8 constructors titles?
4. Red Bull

Having Max Verstappen as their main driver is the only reason Red Bull won this year's world title against McLaren. Verstappen did some supernatural things and consistently finished on podiums. Though he had many issues in his car, he won in Qatar and Brazil, which eventually helped him win this year's drivers title. But if you take Max out of the team, then everything falls like a puzzle. For the first time, we see team culture failing in Red Bull with the sacking of Ricciardo and Perez after just one failed season.
They also snubbed Yuki Tsunoda for Liam Lawson, but these are all-season aftermaths. But during the season, Red Bull lost their form midway and couldn't recover from those issues. There was also no proper backing within the team. Big names like Adrian Newey, Rob Marshall, Jonathan Wheatley, Dan Fallows, and Will Courtney left and joined their rivals. The management didn't have any answers, which shows they are under pressure.

3. Ferrari

Under Fred Vasseur, the iconic Italian racing team has attained some calmness, and that is what we see in the team results. The Frenchman works as the perfect team principal and was widely appreciated for leading the team with a cool head. He signed Lewis Hamilton at the start of the season, developed a championship-winning car and beat Red Bull all in one season.
Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz performed incredibly well, and the team coordination was very nice. When Vettel left the team he felt relieved, but when Sainz left the team he was very emotional and teared up which shows the good team culture under Fred. They can easily win a Formula 1 title within two years.

2. Haas

Talking about the team culture, Haas F1 is the only team that impressed us the most this year. Seeing their 2023 performance, nobody gave them a chance this year with new team principal Ayao Komatsu and two old drivers, Kevin Magnussen and Nico Hulkenberg. Komatsu did a wonderful job bringing the team together and backing each other throughout the season. The two drivers who were biggest rivals before joined hands and helped each other which was new.
From the bottom of the table to seventh place is an incredible achievement. The Japanese team principal was also spot on in his race strategy, leading an incredible team. He also brought the much-needed Toyota partnership for an underdeveloped and less resourceful team. The American team performed wonderfully well this season and could become one of the top teams in a few years.

1.McLaren

McLaren F1 is our number-one pick this season. It is not because they won the constructors championship after 26 years. It is for the grit and determination they showed throughout the season and dominated the entire grid. Their two young drivers, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri are the best pair this season and both of them are very consistent and helpful to the team.
Andrea Stella was the leader of the technical crew, and his aero upgrades did some wonders and that is the biggest reason for their sheer speed and lap times. Zak Brown the team leader did everything he could to keep the resources flowing and kept the atmosphere cool even during heat moments like the Abu Dhabi GP opening lap. McLaren deserves to be the number 1 this year and we hope we could see more of them coming in 2025.
